Laundry Room Decorating Ideas

photo Cameras and Chaos.blogspot.com
This laundry room decorated as a Tiffany blue box has me inspired.  Great laundry rooms are large, have a utility sink, a place to fold and hang laundry, High Efficiency washer & dryer, built-in ironing boards, and any number of other things that most of our homes will never have.  What I LOVE about this laundry room is that it lacks all of those things, is the size that most of us actually have, and the treatment is nothing expensive or out-of-reach.

The wall color goes a long way in this little room, as would pink or any pretty pastel.  Sherwin Williams "spa" or Behr "Windwood Spring" are paints roughly this color.  The cabinets are off-the-shelf, hardware store cabinets.  An open shelf displays some pretty things which could include attractive containers of laundry soap and fabric softener or a small basket for errant socks.  The simple hooks on the wall could hold a few hangers.  The chandelier-type light fixture is not expensive, but would produce lots of light for working.  The window treatment finishes the space, and she made that herself.  There is even a little DIY art project on the end wall.

I am feeling SO INSIRED by this laundry room, that I'm going to walk away from my computer and get started on my own laundry area (in my garage).  I'll even take "before" pictures for a change :-).
