I have started to work on the exterior of my home, which is still a work in progress. Several people have shown concern about me "dropping off the planet", but I am just working long days to get this done before the summer rains. So, mostly here are a bunch of photos to tell the story.
| This is the dog's area as of 4/12/12. The sod is new Zoysia, and the tiny green stuff is dichondra from seed. | | |
| New lamp on the garage, new walkway, new grass seed just sprouting, trees are trimmed away from roof. |
| Just started painting the underside of eaves in a Champagne color. Painted window frames bright white. |
| Entry walkway ceiling and eaves painted in Champagne color, new medallion on light fixture, and beams painted white. |
| Front door, roll-up garage door, and two side entries into garage doors all painted in Champagne color with white trim. |
| New steps to Dining Room in progress, trees cut way back in hopes of growing grass, Potted plants etc. to hide wire fence. |
| The "before" grass in the foreground, and then new GREEN rye grass in the distance along the side of the house. |
So, it is all more connected than it might seem. The sod that I added last year is mostly dead. I am not sure what kind of grass I will be able to grow, so I have an assortment of types being tested, and the rye is just to cover the dirt while I wait for the new dichondra to spread. At the back of the property (mostly not shown) I intend to just fertilize and add lime until I know better what will work. Maybe the St. Augustine back there will spring to life and spread? Planting grass and painting outdoors are things that need to be done during Spring in Florida, and this year the Spring weather has been almost like Summer most days. I will return to "real life" soon.
